Feather Fascinator!

I made this fascinator early this year for a party I was going to. It was an "Aquarius Rising" party. The dress code was blue and white so I decided to get a bit creative. As I have very little hair, there's not much I can do with it so I like to make things like this to put in it.

This was incredibly easy to make. I simply got a hairband, a selection of feathers and a whole lot of fabric glue. I just stuck the feathers on the hairband and then left it to dry. Voila! I had yet another thing to stick in my hair.

Hope you're having a lovely weekend!

Journals á la Bríd...

This little decorative idea arose out of a massive bag of stamps I ordered off Ebay on a whim. I mused for a while over what on earth should become of the collection and then this concept struck me. I decided to découpage them onto journals to make them that bit more special. I think they look pretty great for $1 journals, don't you?

Materials needed to make one of these:

1. Paintbrush
2. All-purpose glue
3. Stamps
4. A composition notebook. You can get these at Staples for $1.

Method:

1. Paint a light layer of glue onto a small area of the page and then place the stamps on top of the glued are.

2. Paint over the stamps with another layer of glue.

3. Continue until the whole journal is covered. Et voilá! You now have a vintage and stylish journal to be a home for your thoughts and musings!

Un grand MERCI á Gary Sundt for taking the photos! You are wonderful Gary and thank you for all that you do for me.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone.

Owl iPhone Sleeve. Hoot Hoot!

Combining two of my recent knitting obsessions, owls and iPhone sleeves, I created this little fellow for my dear friend Matthew. Matthew is a gifted artist whose work can be seen here. Check it out. It's inspiring!

It's nice to make things for friends, especially things that you know they will use and carry with them. Spreading the knitted love is a good feeling!

Have a wonderful week y'all!

Hoot Hoot! The Owls Have Arrived.

I woke up one morning to find a little posse of owls residing in the small forest in my home. I was not quite sure where they came from or why they chose me but as they are quite adorable, I didn't dare question it...
However, after a little while of living with me and bringing me happiness, the little Owlets, Frederick, Esme and Eliza told me that they would soon have to spread their little wings and fly off to other lands. They needed my help to do this.

So I parceled them up in lots of cuddly tissue paper and brought them to the local post office and sent them off to the special people in my life who would appreciate their fluffy company!

Esme is now in Dublin, Ireland. Frederick is now in Nuremburg, Germany. Eliza is now in Swansea, Wales. I think they are all very happy in their new homes.

If you would like to create your own owl posse, you can find the pattern on The Knitting Pony. Melina creates such wonderful things. Be sure to check out her blog for inspiration and ideas!

Gary Sundt took the photos for me. Such a wonderful friend and photographer!

Happy 2012 everyone. May it bring you all love and light.
